Contrary to popular opinion, Brazil is NOT a tropical paradise throughout the year.
Even in the Amazon forest, it is not nearly hot as in the hot, hazy and humid summer in the USA! Temperatures in Brazil may oscillate from 100 F in some scattered spots in the Northeast to 0 F (-17 C) in some very cold places in the southern tip of the country, next to the border with Argentina and Uruguai.
If you travel to Brazil during wintertime (from June to August), even expect to see some snow in some mountains areas of the south. Brazil is a large country, so nearly every type of weather pattern can be found.
Some average temperatures for summer and winter are listed below:
São Paulo: 24 C (Summer), 14 C (Winter)
Rio de Janeiro: 28 (Summer), 20 C (Winter)
Belo Horizonte: 24 (Summer), 18 C (Winter)
Porto Alegre: 24 (Summer), 12 C (Winter)
Curitiba: 22 (Summer), 10 C (Winter)
